Mohair Teddy bears – What is special about them?
To me, mohair teddy bears have always meant one thing – luxury.
Mohair is a high quality and expensive material which is both elastic and long lasting. If you were ever curious about what mohair is made of, just look at the picture below.
Angora goats just like the one in the picture are shorn twice a year and their wonderful soft hair is then processed to the qualitative mohair that is used to create mohair teddy bears.
Mohair teddies are made and sold by private handcraft specialists, as well as by some of the “big names” in the teddy bears industry, such as Steiff Vermont and Gund.
When buying one of these soft cuddly bears it is highly recommended to get the ones with an original certificate and even better – with a guaranty (For example: Vermont teddy bears give a lifetime guaranty but their choice when regarding mohair bears is quite limited).
It is important to have a positive buying experience and if you wish to buy a “super huggable” teddy with a soft high quality fur a mohair teddy bear is surely a wonderful choice.
